Play Information

D would rather suck on the bottoms of his da’s shite encrusted trousers than wear a pin striped suit to his brother’s wedding.

That’s because D would rather look like Debbie Harry.

It’s 1981 and Mena Town isn’t ready for a seventeen year old transsexual. The local hard man thinks he can sort him out. D’s ma is at her wits end; why can’t she have a normal family, just for one single day. His brother doesn’t want him to be his best man, he’ll ruin everything. And his best mate, big Brenda, wants D to keep his hands off her gorgeous new romantic boyfriend.

D doesn’t understand why there is such a fuss from everyone, it’s his life, and it’s up to him what he wears, or who he goes out with; or is it?

Rip Her to Shreds is a story about being different, a freak, a weirdo, and a disappointment. But D’s no ordinary teenager, he’s on an adventure, a journey of a lifetime, and nobody’s going to live his life for him.
